Be ready for your inspector's visit
BE READY FOR THE VISIT OF YOUR HOME ENERGY ADVISOR
Everything you need to know about the process of an home energy assessment. Although some details may vary depending on the type of building, its age, its size and several other characteristics, here is what you need to know in order to be ready for the visit of your energy efficiency advisor.

The assessment lasts approximately one to two hours and a half, depending on the complexity of the building and the number of units

The advisor must have access to all rooms in the building as well as the attic and crawl space, if applicable. Be sure to open the hatch allowing access to the attic.

If you have a dog, for the safety of our advisor, it is important to keep it on a leash for the duration of the assessment. Make sure that pets are in a safe places to prevent them from escaping during the visit.

If it is a building with several units, make sure you have access to all the units for the full duration of the assessment.

Fireplaces and wood stoves must be emptied of their ashes and must not be in operation on the day of the evaluation.

The air conditioning units in the windows must be removed or adequately caulked before the visit.

The interior finishes must not include openings (example: holes in drywall of ceiling or wall) and the windows must be completely closed.

At least one person over the age of 18 must be present during the visit. This person must have the property tax document in hand*. If the owner is absent, the documents at the bottom of this page must be signed.

In the case of the second assessment, the one after the upgrades, the invoices for the devices installed, materials and work carried out must be given to the advisor.
*For participants from the Longueuil area, also have the school tax document in hand.

FOLLOWING YOUR ENERGY AUDIT
You will find below relevant information on what you need to know following the first energy evaluation as part of the Rénoclimat program. You will only have to rely on these steps to continue your service and get the most out of it.
Time between assessments
No time limit is required to carry out a second evaluation. All you have to do is submit your request for the post-work inspection appointment via the Québec Energy Transition website (click here) so that we can come back to see the upgrades that were done.

Terms and Eligibility
According to the terms and conditions of the program, it is the customer’s responsibility to ensure the eligibility of his building as well as the renovation work eligible for the programs, the availability and amounts of financial assistance, the due dates respect as well as changes or discontinuations to the various financial assistance programs.
